Shortly following the ordination of Deacon Gabriel, we learned about the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (World Council of Churches) which this year happed to be during the week of January 18-25. We then worked quickly to organize on behalf of those residing on the Island of Maui a unity prayer service during Unity Week which was held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in their prayer chapel in Wailuku on January 23. About seven churches on the Island of Maui were represented even though it was short notice. The worship service used was an orthodox prayer service approved by the World Council of Churches. By going to our hymnal page which contains our previous services, you can view the service hymnal called An Ecumenical Christian Prayer Service. Participants included Sister Eva and Sister Rosalani who spent time talking with us and who would like to spend more time in advance preparing next year so many more churches and people of faith can participate.
